The First Graduated Class (2014-2017) of Venerable Uktara Bethany

College Conferred 3rd March, 2018 (Saturday)

In the event of the First Graduation Day of Venerable Uktara Bethany College, Manmow, Namsai, the members of the entire college community remarkably witnessed a historic moment and a daylong celebration of the success of the first out gone graduated batch in the completion of three successful years of the institution on 3rd March, 2018 (Saturday).

To grace this historic event, Hon’ble Deputy Chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Chowna Mein made his kind presence as a Chief Guest for the Graduation Ceremony. Each of the graduates was conferred with a Course Completion Certificate and the memento each. The rank holder students in the University were conferred with a certificate of merit, memento and cash award sponsored by the friends and well wishers of the Bethany Educational Trust and was awarded through the hands of Hon’ble Deputy CM, Sr Joy BS the Provincial Superior and the President of the Bethany Charitable Society, Guwahati and many other dignitaries present for the ceremony.

While addressing to the teachers, students and the parents, the Deputy CM put a brief note of his reminiscence about his schooling days, “ I am reminded of my days at Don Bosco School, Guwahati”, he said. “All that I am today, I owe it to Fathers and Brothers at my school.”  He reflected the hard labored dedication of selfless service by the Fathers and Sisters of Catholic Education particularly in North East India.

While appreciating the students, Dr. Mein also recollected the difficulties he had faced during that time to complete his education, it was the time when they had to travel by mules and boats to reach the college; he expressed the grief and told the students that they are lucky to have good educational institution into the doorsteps.

The first batch of graduates from VUBC had not only left the memories behind as the first batch but, they remarkably created recognition of the newly budding institution by such a magnificent performance which they transform through their result. Out of 54 graduates, 12 are in the university top 10 list of Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh, for the department of Political Science, History, Commerce and Sociology for the academic year 2016-2017.

Rev. Sr. Joy, the Provincial Superior of Bethany North East Province and the President of Bethany Educational Trust, Guwahati, also appreciated the graduates and said she and her congregation has a special affection for this college. “Go and be salt and light of the society; add taste and dispel darkness from the life of the people”, she said.

Rev. Sr. Teresa Martis, the Principal of VUBC, college expressed her earnest gratitude to all who stand firm and affirmative for the foundation and growth of the institution and all those who extended their support to the college in various ways.

Chow Zingnu Namchoom, Hon’ble MLA of Namsai and Parliamentary Secretary, Shri R.K Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Namsai, Shri Bijoy Talukdar, Additional deputy Commissioner, Namsai, Fr. Felix Anthony Youth Director of Miao Diocese the representative of Bishop George Palliparambil of Miao Diocese, Chow Khouk Manpoong Ex-m MLA and  the VUBC land provider and Rev. Sr. Noeline, the Administrator of VUBC, the heads of the neighboring institutions, the Fathers, the Brothers, the Sisters, well wishers, the sponsors of the academic awards and scholarships, village leaders, parents of the graduates, and the college staff and the students were present for the splendid celebration of the first convocation programme of VUBC, Manmow, Namsai.

The cultural dances of various Tribes’ added flavor and grandeur to the day are formal but solemn event.
