Venerable Uktara Bethany College was established by the Bethany Charitable Trust (R), an organ of the Congregation of the Bethany Sisters on 16th July 2014. It is located at Namsai, at the highway to Tezu. The Bethany Congregation, a religious women congregation with its headquarters at Mangalore and regional office at Guwahati which has its history of 105 years. It was founded by Mgr Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas on 16 July 1921 with the help of 4 lady teachers to educate the rural poor initially, now runs around 189 institutes in India and abroad. The Superior General of Bethany Congregation is the President of the Bethany Educational Society. True to its Motto- “Excellence in Transformative Education” the college has made a niche for itself for its performance at various levels under Rajiv Gandhi Central University, situated at Doimukh, Itanagar.
